Background: John was born in Italy and immigrated with his family to Australia at a young age, finally settling in Griffith during the 1930’s. During and after his schooling, John made the most of his love of sport, excelling in basketball, table tennis and Aussie Rules. These days John is an avid Golfer and writes a Golfers column for the Area News called “Back at the 19th”. John is very proud of his 4 children, 9 grand children and 6 great grand children.
Music Interests: In Italy, John’s father crafted and played violins, which set the scene for John’s love of music. John enjoyed dancing to rock ‘n’ roll and country music in his younger years. But he also loves to sing, and is a member of a church choir. John has a wide ranging interest in music, from 60/70’s to country and classical. “Music gives me a sense of well-being and I often love singing along.”
Programs: John presents the Morning Music Marathon every Tuesday and Friday mornings between 9am and 1pm, and Borto’s Country Variety every Sunday between 10am and 1pm.
