Background: Gloria was born in Innisfail, Queenland, and moved to Griffith with her family when she was very young. Her parents came from Italy and emparted onto her their rich culture and language. As a result, Gloria has close ties to the Italian community in the M.I.A., and she has worked closely with elderly people of Italian heritage. After spending sixteen years in the Aged Care sector, Gloria now provides Italian interpreter services for the NSW Department of Health and volunteers for St Vincent De Paul. Gloria has two daughters and grandchildren.
Music Interests: Gloria has always loved Italian music, and was always surrounded by it through her family. She recognises and experiences the importance of music in the Italian culture, so she jumped at the chance to assist in continuing the radio programming started by Father Beltrame in Griffith after his retirement. “There is so much wealth in Italian music. When I hear the music it makes me feel very proud of my heritage and I understand how important it is to the older generations. So, as a presenter, I am very happy that I can provide this music to the community.”
Programs: Gloria presents Musica Italiana every Sunday between 1pm and 3pm.
