Background: Born in Griffith and growing up in Coleambally, Carl spent most of his schooling at Coleambally Central School before embarking on university study. In 2003, he graduated from Charles Sturt University with a Bachelor of Education. After a short teaching stint in Broken Hill, Carl returned to Griffith to teach agriculture and science at Wade and Griffith Highschools. Outside of his busy teaching role, Carl also musters up the energy to volunteer for the Barellan Masters Games, Coleambally Football and Netball Club, First Friday Live, NSW Association of Agricultural Teachers, Beelbangera General Store and actively promotes local events through his Facebook presence. “I love giving time to people without expecting anything in return, which are values I received from my generous family”. Carl began as a presenter at 2MIA FM in 2006.
Music Interests: Carl grew up listening to bands such as Dire Straits and Crowded House, and attributes their music to playing an important role in his life. He has a love of musical beat, and this is demonstrated with his interest of bongo drumming. These days his musical interests are varied, but include mood music and jazz. “My favourite music makes me relax, and I often connect relaxing music with flowing water.” Carl also recognises the important role that community plays for 2MIA FM. “I’d like to thank the local community for all their feedback to us the presenters, because that’s the reason we have such a rich variety of radio programs”.
Programs: Carl presents Out ‘n’ About With Carl every Monday between 5pm and 6pm.
